Please check grades as often as you can.  I recommend checking grades at least twice a week.

Grading Policy
*Assignments will be worth 100 pts.
*Quizzes, Tests, Projects, and Large Writing Assignments are all weighted between x2 and x5 depending on length and difficulty.
*Final exam (trimesters two and three) will be worth 10% of overall grade.

Please Note:
*On PowerSchool you will not be able to see that I’ve weighted the assignments, so please use the above information to help you understand your language arts grade.

Late and Missing Assignments
*Students will receive two “late” passes.  Each pass will allow a student to turn in a missing assignment ONE day late for full credit.  (I implemented the ‘late pass’ when I started using My Big Campus for assignments.  I realize technology issues will occur, so this policy helps to off-set technology glitches that may arise when you are completing your school work.  Please be aware though that once your two ‘late passes’ have been used, technology issues will not be an excuse to turn in late work for credit.  You need to plan ahead and think outside the box….  You can always handwrite your assignment, go to a friend’s house or library, print or email the assignment, use a non-Internet program to type an assignment, place assignment on a flash drive, etc.)

*Once both ‘late passes’ have been used, assignments will be accepted ONE day late for ½ credit.  The ‘late pass’ and ‘one day late for 1/2 credit’ policies will be strictly adhered to, so be sure to get your work completed and turned in on time.

*Students/parents should check PowerSchool regularly.  Students who need me to look up their missing assignments or current grade should attend a help session as class time will not be used to do this.

Absent Work/Policy

*All absent work can be found on My Big Campus.  It is the student’s responsibility to get the work completed and turned in on time.
*Students who are absent and need help completing their absent work, may be asked to attend a help session to get caught up.

*AB will be typed into PowerSchool for students who are missing an assignment due to their absence.  The computer reads AB as a zero.  I do this to remind myself the student was absent and to motivate the student to get the missing absent work turned in.  Students who get their absent work turned in on-time (according to the absent policy in the student handbook) will receive full credit.

Please Note:
The absent policy in the student handbook will be strictly followed, so make sure you get your absent work turned in on time!

Extra Credit
*Students receive four passes each trimester they can use to leave the classroom (locker, restroom, drink , etc.).  If a student has any passes remaining at the end of the trimester, those remaining passes turn into extra credit.

*Student receive two ‘late’ passes each trimester they can use to turn in late work ONE day late for full credit.  If a student has any passes remaining at the end of the trimester, those remaining passes turn into extra credit.
