Kindergarten Registration

On February 23, 2009, in Curriculum, Elementary, by Dr. Keen

A very important day is coming up. On March 12, we will hold registration for kindergarten for next year, as well as for students who are not in our kindergarten program this year but plan to attend our schools for first grade. This enrollment is important for two reasons:

One, we will schedule screening dates for those kindergarten students who enroll. The screening is important so that from the start we can better help the student. Also, those signing up have more choices for screening times.

Two, we need to be extremely careful with our staffing and the number of students who register will drive those decisions. We will not overstaff and assume enrollment to increase as we approach school this fall. We may add staff, but only as actual students show up (not based on past patterns).

Even if you do not have a kindergarten student to register, please help us by reminding anyone you know who does have an upcoming kindergartener about the importance of registering. It helps us and it helps them. We appreciate your support with this and in all other areas.
