traditions

November 6th, 2013

So Halloween is not my favorite holiday, but it is one that I treasure because of the traditions Drew and I have with our friends. Every year we host a Halloween party at our house. Costumes are a must. As well as hot apple cider, a black light dance party, & lots and lots of finger foods. Over the years some traditions have come and gone with the party. For example, a bonfire seems to only happen once every few years because of weather. When we were younger we watched movies at midnight, typically Mean Girls,  (Yes, you read that right) but now people usually depart around midnight.  We also carve pumpkins depending on the date of the party. Recently we have added the traditions of playing Just Dance and Reverse Charades, which are hilarious.  A highlight from this year’s party was Drew and I challenging another couple at the dance from “Dirty Dancing” on Just Dance 4. It was… let’s just say… AMAZING! haha. (And we won, of course!)

So who are these friends that are still coming to a Halloween party seven years later and dressing up in homemade costumes?  These are Drew’s friends from high school mostly! The group has changed and added and dropped people over the years, but there is a core group of friends that Drew has been hanging out with for fifteen years. I feel so blessed that I am a part of this group. I also love the fact that Drew enjoys hosting parties like I do. 🙂

Anyway. Taking a break from grading, and blogging about something that brings me joy sounded like some much needed therapy.

Here’s our costumes at our second party in 2007
