Meet Your Teachers

Ms. Warner

Hello!  I am Ms. Warner!  I grew up in Frankton, IN.  Ball State University is where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  Then I pursued and earned my Master of Education degree from Anderson University.   I have taught grades 2, 3, 5, and 6.  Also I was a Title One Reading teacher for five years. I have taught since 1990!!! That is 25 years of experience. During that same year my daughter Allie was born!  She graduated from Westfield High School in 2008.  Cosmetology is her field of study. In September, my grandson, Brodi will turn four!  Soon he will be the proud brother of my second grandchild!   Yes, I am a very proud grandma!  My son, Drew, fraduated from Westfield High School in 2013 and will be attending IVY Tech in Bloomington, IN.  He is active in Access which is a ministry for college aged students.  I love spending time with my kids! Watching baseball (football or any other sport), exercising (clean eating and Advocare), shopping (especially antiques), decorating my house, creating crafts, and just hanging out are a few of my hobbies!  I am actively involved in my church, Grace Community Church. Relay for Life is also a passion of mine.  Life is filled with great journeys!  I love my life, my family, my church, and my friends!  Most of all I LOVE TEACHING!  It is the best profession in the world just because of the KIDS!

Mrs. Denkmann

Greetings!

I’m so happy to be working with you in 3rd grade this year! I’m Stacia Denkmann. Third grade has always been my favorite grade to teach! I ‘ve taught grades 2 through 6 in Washington Township Schools, after graduating from Indiana University. Go IU!  I received my Master’s Degree from Butler University.  I, then, served as an elementary school Assistant Principal for six years before I took some time off to be with my family. Todd is my husband. Our son Miles is 20 years old. Anna is a freshman at IU and Julia is a HS junior. We have two loving and sometimes crazy dogs – Spencer and Curly.  We play and take long walks with the dogs.  Our family also likes to hike and kayak.  This is my sixth year in 3rd grade.   I’m so blessed to hike with an amazing team of teachers and wonderful students in 3rd grade this year!  We’re going to have a great year together!

Mrs. Hitch

Hi!   I’m Mrs. Hitch, and  I’m so happy to be your teacher this year!    We are going to have a wonderful year learning together!   I have many exciting activities planned to for us to do.   Here’s a little information about me…I grew up in Lafayette, Indiana and graduated from Jefferson High School.  I have one sister, Julie (who also lives in Westfield!)    I always knew I wanted to be a teacher.   My mom is a teacher too.    I went to Purdue University and earned my Master’s degree in Administration from IUPUI.   I’m a diehard Boilermaker!    Go Boilers!

I have fifteen years teaching experience.    I taught in East Allen County Schools and Southern Hancock Schools.    This is my sixth year in third grade at Oak Trace.  I just love this school!

My husband and I have two children (Kristin and Kevin), two very loud cats, and a spoiled dog named Lily!   Kristin is a junior at Purdue, and Kevin is a senior at Westfield High School.  We enjoy visiting Kristin at Purdue and cheering on Kevin at his golf matches.    We love to go boating and travel in our free time.   Looking forward to a great year with you!

Mrs. Higgins

Hi! I am Mrs. Higgins. I am so excited for my second year in third grade! I look forward to a great year of learning, growing, and exploring. I graduated from Indiana University in 1990 and taught first grade for seven years, before I stayed home for 15 years to raise our children. I am beyond excited for my second year at Oak Trace! Teaching gives me immense JOY and I look forward to each and every day…Making each moment count is so important!!

My husband, Michael, and I have been married for 22 years. We have three children. Madeline, is 20 and a Junior studying Elementary Education at Indiana University in Bloomington. Benjamin, is 19 and a Freshman; also at Indiana University studying pre-med. Nathan is 14 and a Freshman at Westfield High School.

We LOVE children and we are SO grateful to still have one child still living at home!! We have a very close-knit, adventuresome, and energetic family. We like to travel, hike, ride bikes, and watch sports…GO IU and COLTS!

Mrs. Barnett

Hello! I’m Mrs. Barnett. I am so excited to be joining the third grade team. I’m looking forward to a great year!

I grew up in a small town in southern Indiana and graduated from Butler University. I taught grades 1-6 in Indianapolis and Evansville, before staying home with my children for several years.

I have three children. Anna is a senior at Westfield High School, Joseph is a freshman,  and Margaret is an eighth grader. All three kids are long distance runners, so we spend lots of time at cross country and track meets.

The 2015-2016 school year was a busy one. I began the school year covering a short term leave in sixth grade,  I filled in for Mrs. Hall’s maternity leave here at Oak Trace, and then finished the year in first grade at Monon Trail, where I covered another maternity leave. I loved being in three great schools, working with so many different students and teachers, but I am so happy to be back at Oak Trace!

    Hi Mrs. Hitch,

The most exciting thing I did this summer was riding on the speed boat and playing with my little sister in the water at Crooked Lake. I’m excited to meet you.

Hi Carter! Isn’t the Monon Center fun? I’ve been there a few times and had fun each time. Holiday World sounds like a blast. Will you do the water rides and the regular rides? Do you like roller coasters? I love the water roller coaster and the water ride that looks like a funnel. Have fun!
