Student-Led Conferences 2017

A key part of our Leader In Me work is helping students take ownership and responsibility for their own learning.  After all, that’s how they’ll be successful students now and successful lifelong learners once they finish school.  This was our second year using student-led conferences in place of the traditional parent-teacher conference model.  Using their leadership binders as their core data, students share their successes, their goals, and their challenges with parents.  In some classes, the teacher sits alongside, but in others, multiple conferences are ongoing in the room and the teacher manages the process.

From our perspective, this model of conferencing is a huge improvement over the traditional format.  What do you think?  We hope this post will become a source of comments from parents and other educators, so please leave your SLC reply.
